A Chance for Directors to Gather to Talk About the Craft of Directing
Coffee Klatch comes from the German word “kaffeeklatsch,” which translates to coffee (kaffee) + gossip (klatsch). It refers to a group of friends getting together over a cup of coffee, usually at someone's house. Well, it’s not about gossip, and it’s not going to be at someone’s house (at least, not this time), but it will be a “group” getting together to ask questions, answer questions and share the experiences we’ve had as a director (or hope to have in the future). We can talk about mentorship and shadowing opportunities, we can talk about seeing a stage through fresh eyes, and we can talk about the different styles of directors that are working in community theatres today. And… we’ll identify some goals for the future. If the desire is there, this may become a regular occurrence.
